Production Process
Materials
To create the bath bomb, the following materials are required:
- Citric acid, 20 mL
- Cornstarch, 20 mL
- Sodium bicarbonate, 60 mL
- Rum fragrance (ester), several drops
- 600-mL beaker
- Oil, 30 mL (e.g. olive, coconut oil etc.)
- 100-mL beaker
- Stirring rod
- 250-mL graduated cylinder
- Food colouring (green), few drops
- Wrapping tissue paper
- Ribbons
- Polyethylene
Procedure
After collecting the materials, the following procedure was performed to create the bath bomb:
1. In the large beaker, mix together 20 mL of citric acid, 20 mL of cornstarch, and 60 mL of sodium hydrogen carbonate.
2. In the small beaker, mix 30 mL of vegetable oil and a few drops of the ester for fragrance.
3. Pour the contents of the small beaker into the large beaker and mix well with a stirring rod.
4. Form the mixture into a ball or other shape of your choice. Set the bath bomb on a sheet of wax paper and allow to dry completely (approximately 24–48 h).
5. Separate a small piece of the bath bomb and save to test in warm water
6. Package the bath bomb in materials of your choice (e.g. tissue paper, polyester or silk ribbon, Styrofoam pellets), and store the entire package in clear plastic wrap or a clear plastic bag.
